Mom Vander Horst Pecan Tarts
Makes 12 Tarts
Crust:
2 cups flour
2/3 cup shorting
6 TBS ice water
Directions: cut shorting into flour until size of small peas. Gradually add ice water and form into a ball then roll out on to a floured surface ntil 1/8 inch thick. cut into rounds with a glass or cookie cutter big enough to fit into regular size muffin tin. Fit rounts into tin.
Filling:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp flour
1 egg
1 TBS milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup grapenuts cerial
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 deg
Mix all ingredients together and spoon into muffin cups about 2/3 full.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes
remove and on cooling rack
